. . . . . . Alysia
Woodruff Alysia is a co-founder of the Paradigm Dance Project (PDP); a
nonprofit organization devoted to bringing dance to those who often are
overlooked in dance education. She completed her Masters of Fine Arts in
Modern Dance at the University of Utah. She received her BA in Dance Education from Goucher
College in Baltimore, MD. In high school she was a member of the
Vineland Regional Dance Company and studied theater/acting intensively.
Alysia most recently received a service award given by the faculty at
the University of Utah, Modern Dance Department as well as full-tuition
graduate assistantship for two years of study. Alysia's thesis involved
Deaf Culture and Dance and the relationship between both dance and sign
language as it pertains to movement as a means to communicate. Her work
and devotion to the community keeps her busy, yet she has found time to
pursue her acting career on the side, appearing in such venues as
Touched By An Angel, an independent film, and a few commercials. Summers
have been spent teaching dance to At-Risk Youth in the Salt Lake City
area through the National Youth Sports Program as well as her work with
PDP. Alysia currently lives in Salt Lake City with her husband Mike and
their two black labs Badtz and Hana.
